Leon explains that getting hold of the right instrument comes down to knowledge of both the market and of your own requirements, as well as a fighting fund of ready cash.

Leon Bosch Records New CD
Leon Bosch and Robert Smissen record Dittersdorf with The Academy of St Martin in the Fields, directed by Kenneth Sillito.

Leon says:

"This latest CD, of Dittersdorf's complete works for double bass, is now available from the Meridian Records website.

It was really a pleasure to record this disc and I shall retain many happy memories of every facet of the process, from conceptualisation through to completion.

Hopefully Dittersdorf's best interests will have been duly served, by everyone who contributed."
Bosch on Bass
Had Leon Bosch been born a quarter of a century later, he probably would have realised his first aspiration of becoming a lawyer. As it turns out, Leon became a leading double bass virtuoso, holds a Masters in Intelligence and International Relations and is currently involved in doctoral research.
Campaign Trail
In his youth, Leon Bosch took to the streets with the anti-apartheid movement, but his musical career has been spent championing the double-bass. Richard Fawkes reports.
Shooting from the Hip
South African-born bassist Leon Bosch is never far from controversy - at the age of 15 he landed in jail for his political activism, and he has never been slow to express his passionate beliefs about life, music and politics. His Manchester Camerata colleague Basil Howitt paints a portrait of the man.
Against the Odds (PDF)
South African double bassist Leon Bosch had to overcome difficult circumstances in the early years of his career. Lawrence Milner interviews him as he returns to his native country for a series of concerts.
